(07/02/2012) -  OVGA Press Release

Many of you are aware that the Golf Association of Ontario (GAO) has been in communication with the OVGA and Golf Québec in order to investigate the possibility of aligning our member clubs with Ontario rather than Golf Québec.   It is the position of the OVGA, Golf Québec and Golf Canada that we are a region that is associated with Golf Québec and that no change is anticipated for the 2012 golfing season.   The OVGA is confident that their members are not disadvantaged with respect to this decision; however, further information will follow at the AGM to be held at the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club on Saturday, April 21st at 10:00 a.m.

In addition, the OVGA has currently hired a new Office Manager: Mr. Richard Henderson. The OVGA congratulates Mr. Henderson on being the successful candidate to assume this very important position with the OVGA. More...

OTTAWA AREA SEMINAR: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH AT CANADIAN GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB  9:00am - 11:30am

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
All Junior Boys, Girls & their parents who are interested in the opportunities associated with Golf Scholarships should be attending. This is a process that individuals need to be aware of and understand at least 2 years before they graduate from High School.

Please be advised that this presentation will be made in English only.


(17/01/2012) -  OVGA Junior Development Program - Call for Volunteers

The OVGA requires volunteers to support the Player Development Program in 2012. Volunteers are required to assist in the following capacities:

  1. Head of Player Development
    Duties involve: tournament coordination and onsite tournament management
  2. Tournament Administration Support
    Duties involve: registration, starting, scoring

Ability to converse in both French and English would be an asset. Individuals interested in suporting junior golf in the Ottawa Region should contact Bruce Evans (bruce.evans@sunlife.com)


(20/12/2011) -  Golf Canada to institute changes to Equitable Stroke Control

Changes to Canadian methodology for tracking golfer handicaps to take effect March 1, 2012Oakville, Ont. (Golf Canada) – The Royal Canadian Golf Association (operating as Golf Canada) has announced a notable change to the Canadian methodology for calculating a golf handicap as it relates to Equitable Stroke Control (ESC).
